Demo Tape
Rateyourmusic: “The album entitled A gate to another life is a good album where neo prog moments are melted very strong with some more rougher moements almost prog metal, but without sounding like a prog metal band, only in attitude here and there. Also the compositions are more elastic in musical termes then on usual neo prog band, great use of keybords and good vocal parts. I like this band and both albums worth investigated. Rateyourmusic: “All pieces are good not a weak moment , specialy the instrumental Memories, excellent musicianship and great keybords arrangements, another highlight is No really or Black sun. A quite enjoyble ride was this balbum aswell like their first release. “.
The band was born in 1992 under the name of Farenheit, with a classic lineup composed of Massimo Burzi on vocals, Alberto Sandri on bass, Daniele Cipollini on guitar, Andrea Soverini on keyboards and Claudio Mattei on drums. In 1993 they changed their name to Lie Tears and in 1994 they acquired the sixth element, guitarist Matteo Ceramigli. Thanks to the influence and personal technique of each member, the band creates romantic melodies with powerful rock discharges, forming unique pieces in classic Progressive Rock style. The band released two demo tapes in 1995 with Ipnotic Mind and in 1997 Lord Sand Sad, all reviewed by industry newspapers and Fanzines. Italian Tapes: “… fabulous demo by the Bologna-based band Lie tears. Tracks performed impeccably like the symphonic “Ipnotic Mind” or “Tears in the Rain”, full of tempo changes and featuring an initial arpeggio that captures you and never lets go” Thunder Demo: “… we find a band that plays brilliantly, slightly penalized by the never perfect sound of the demotapes, but that, in the five tracks, shows that they have technique and feeling, the ability to create the right atmosphere, varying it within the single composition, as per classic Prog style.
Arlequins: “… the secret of Lie Tears’ success is precisely this alternation between intimate and romantic moments with sudden accelerations where the rhythm becomes really heavy. Flash:”-...Considering the quality of the artwork and the recording it is almost hard to review “Lord Sand Sad” as a simple demo. Hard: “Lord Sand Sad presents six well-crafted pieces in both composition and recording; special praise goes to Hours Fly Away which, if at first it can be annoying with its tempo changes, in the long run captures with its atmospheres and well-chosen melodies. Metal Shock: Top demo of November “..trust me, it won’t take much to be subjugated by the magical power of the “sad lord of the sand”. In 1999 the band remained with only one guitarist and recorded their first CD “A Gate for Another Life…” published by the Underground Sinphony label.

In the following years, after the singer and guitarist left the band, Lie Tears began the search for a voice and a six-string to release new songs. With the arrival of singer Alessandro Bicicchi and guitarist Riccardo Ibba, the band managed to return to the recording studio to create other Progressive Rock songs. In fact, the third CD “Prophetic Promises” is scheduled for release in 2025, anticipated by the release of the single in the video “Between Dark and Light”.
